Powder Keg Being Lit?

6/1/2010

Hello my friends and welcome back to another week of “The Bandit Speaks”. I sincerely hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend and that you took time out from your schedules to remember our service men and women. Once again I wanted to get back into my Economy in Crisis series tonight but I am forced to forego that in lieu of major news out of the Middle East. Tonight all eyes are on Israel as they defend their position on the Gaza naval blockade. I find it imperative upon myself to focus the entire portion of tonight’s blog on this brewing situation.

Israel Under The Microscope:

For a very long time the nation of Israel has had an ongoing conflict with the terrorist group Hamas that is based inside the Gaza strip. It is no secret that Hamas gets funding, munitions, and recruits from Iran. Hamas has stated that a primary goal of the organization is to wipe Israel off of the map. It should come as no surprise that Iran and Hamas are bedfellows considering that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said that Israel should be wiped out as well.

To head off the flow of supplies and munitions to the Hamas organization the nation of Israel has established a naval blockade of Gaza. Naval blockades are nothing new and have been used many times in the course of history during times of war and to prevent war. Blockades were used extensively during World War II and probably the most famous naval blockade in recent history would be the U.S. Navy blockade around Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Early Monday morning a flotilla of “humanitarian aid” attempted to pass through the Israeli blockade and after repeated attempts to stop them the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) were forced to board the flotilla. When this occurred the “peaceful” people on board began beating the IDF with pipes, knives, and sticks. Needless to say the IDF was forced to defend themselves with deadly force. This force has been met with almost unanimous, worldwide condemnation from nations ranging from France and Turkey all the way to Iran and North Korea.

WHAT??? What the heck is that all about? Iran and North Korea is going to lecture people on human rights? Once again folks I feel like I am living in bizarro world. The whole world has flat gone crazy. Even the United States hasn’t exactly been Johnny on the spot to back up our most staunch Middle East ally. Where is the Obama administration on this one? Why don’t we have Israel’s back on this situation? Oh, that’s right…because we are too busy kissing everyone else’s backside in the world!

The bottom line here folks is that Israel did nothing wrong and someone is trying to sucker them into a very dangerous game. Israel has every right to defend their interest and to check cargo on ships that are possibly carrying contraband that would be used against Israel’s citizens. Wow, that’s a novel idea…Make sure you keep your citizens safe. Hey Obama…take a few lessons from the Israeli’s and apply it to our borders. Israel getting condemned by the world in this situation is the same as if we were getting condemned if we stopped Bin Laden from sailing into New York harbor. This is flat out ridiculous. The IDF boarded the ship with the intention to check the cargo. If the supplies were of a humanitarian nature then they could go through the proper Israeli port and be sent to Gaza through the proper channels. Instead, someone decided that it would be a good idea to provoke the Israeli’s and try and run the blockade. You know the old saying…if you run it makes you look guilty. Was it really “humanitarian aid” onboard the ship or was it something more? The IDF had no choice but to assume that since the flotilla was sneaking through the blockade that they may have contraband on board. They took the proper steps and when the troops were attacked on board they did the proper thing and fought back. It seems like someone on the flotilla had something to hide. Or maybe there is something much more sinister at work here. I personally feel that there are powers that be that are trying to set the world on a collision course with war. Ask yourself who stands to gain from a global conflict?

Ladies and gentlemen the Middle East and heck the world for that matter is a powder keg right now. All it is going to take is the proper spark to set the world on fire. It has happened before and it will happen again. World War I began with the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand and his wife. World War II began with Germany’s invasion of Poland in 1939. With the world’s economies in turmoil right now along with major worldwide geopolitical implications there is in place a recipe for disaster. Let’s pray that cooler heads prevail in the coming days and weeks. Unfortunately I feel that we are on the verge of a major moment in world history that will change our lives and our planet forever.

Until tomorrow night please remember the following:
