Arizona, ILLEGAL Immigration, and Miss USA

Good evening everyone and welcome to the start of the week. Today I want to touch on the Arizona ILLEGAL immigration law. That's right, I capitilized ILLEGAL on purpose because I want to get that point across to everyone right now. Arizona's new law is designed to enforce something that is, has been, and should always be ILLEGAL.

Now to get something straight right out of the gate I want to clarify that I have no problem with people coming to the United States. America was founded and built by immigrants. There is however a big difference between coming here legally, following the rules, and becoming a citizen versus making a run for the border and hopping over a fence.

Let's discuss the ILLEGAL immigration problem. What effect does ILLEGAL immigration have on all of us? Well for one it creates a major strain on our economy and resources. I'm all for helping our neighbors but the old saying goes that you must take care of yourself before you take care of others. Healthcare has been a major hot topic in the U.S. recently. Just think of what kind of strain all of the illegal immigrants are having on the healthcare system. You and I as taxpayers are paying to take care of the health needs of all of these illegal immigrants. The fact that they are ILLEGAL means that they are doing NOTHING to contribute to our society and economy. They get paid under the table and obviously don't pay taxes.

This brings us to another problem. If they are ILLEGAL how are they getting jobs to begin with. The greed of corporate America has come around to finally bite us. Corporations big and small hire the ILLEGAL immigrants in an effort to minimize production costs. Bottom line is this...Corporations that hire ILLEGAL immigrants should face stiff penalties that will discourage the practice of hiring ILLEGAL immigrants.

Which now brings us to Arizona. Arizona has been plagued by this ongoing problem for years and it has recently become worse. The crime that has been taking place in Mexico is beginning to spill across the border and residents in border counties and cities are now left fearing for their safety. The federal government has done little to nothing to protect American citizens along the border so it is now left up to the state to take action.

People have been concerned that this new law will result in racial profiling. The bottom line here is if you are not ILLEGAL then you don't have anything to worry about. Let me repeat that another way...IF YOU ARE LEGAL THEN YOU DON'T HAVE ANYTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. If you are ILLEGAL you are BREAKING THE LAW and should be deported.

While we are on the subject it should be noted that Miss Oklahoma was asked a question regarding the Arizona Immigration Law during the Miss USA competition on Sunday night. Miss Oklahoma answered very well and stated that she believes in states rights and that if the federal government would not enforce the law then it was up to the state and local government to do so.

Please feel free to post comments and give me your feedback. What is your stand on the Arizona Law.

Stay tuned...Tomorrow I will write about the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
