A New Week Begins...Oil Spill, Joe Sestak, Korean Tensions, and Our Future Leaders

Hello folks and welcome back to a new week.  Tonight I'm going to go through with a lightning round of topics and basically touch on some things that I will cover more in depth as the week goes on.

First topic out of the gate tonight:

The Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill

Another weekend has passed and British Petroleum (BP) still has a geyser of oil spewing from the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico seabed.  I ask again like I did last week...WHAT IS TAKING SO LONG TO GET THIS FIXED???  Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindel is obviously fed up and who can blame him?  Jindel has been begging to get U.S. Army Corp of Engineers approval for dredging and building sand berms to keep the oil out of the sensitive wetlands.  While the Corp and the Federal Government is tied up in red tape and dragging their feet everyone in Louisiana gets to watch their state slip under a wave of black tar.  Jindel is ready to buck the entire system and go ahead with the operations.  Have at it Bobby, I'm behind you on this one.  Hopefully we will have some good news to report on this later in the week but I'm not going to hold my breath.  In addition it should be noted that the Atlantic Hurricane Season begins in one week.  I'm not liking the idea of seeing the Louisiana Superdome coated in oil.  NOT GOOD.

Next Topic...Joe Sestak...

During an interview over the weekend on NBC's Meet the Press the winner of the Pennsylvania Democratic Senate Primary Joe Sestak confirmed once again that he was offered a "job" in order to drop out of his race with current Democratic incumbant Arlen Specter.  It should be noted that the White House was backing Arlen Specter in the race.  Apparently they felt that Sestak was a tough enough opponent that it would be better just to get him out of the picture.  Their are rumours going around that Sestak was offered the Secretary of the Navy posistion from White House Cheif of Staff Rahm Emanual.  If that is the case and he was offered this position it almost surely came down from the Obamanation himself.  If that is indeed true then the great one has committed an impeachable offense.  We can only hope that is the case.  Stay tuned and we will provide further updates later this week as news comes out.

Korean Tensions

Once again the tensions are high on the Korean Peninsula.  This is nothing new as the two countries are still in a defacto state of war since a cease fire was never signed after the Korean War.  Occasionally North Korea likes to rattle their sabres and get everyone in the world riled up.  Unfortunately, this time they may have rattled too much.  Back in March a South Korean warship was sunk by a North Korean torpedo and the South incurred a significant loss of life.  In fact, it was the most significant loss of South Korean military manpower since the Korean War was stopped.  Will the South respond?  I think it goes without saying that they should retaliate.  The North now is feeling the heat and is threatening all out nuclear war on the Korean Peninsula.  It should be noted that there is a large contingent of U.S. Troops along the North and South Korean border.  This is almost sure to escalate and could get ugly over the next couple of weeks.  Let's hope that cooler heads prevail.

Our Future Leaders

At some point this week I want to spend an evening discussing the potential future leaders of this country.  I want to look at todays youth and try to figure out what is wrong with them.  Is there any hope for our future?  I have to wonder sometimes when I walk through the malls and movie theaters in this country.  I hope there are some shining lights out there that realize what we are up against in the next 50 to 100 years.  It is essential that we groom some future American leaders to keep this country strong.  The question remains...Where are they going to come from?  Hopefully I can find some answers and get to this topic during this week.  It is essential to our future.

I look forward to bringing you informative information each and every night.

STAY INFORMED, STAY EDUCATED, STAY ALERT
