Hello my friends and welcome to Thursday night. It has been quite an eventful day today to say the least. I am going to continue my series tonight on the Economy in Crisis but before I do I want to at least touch on a couple of today’s major stories.
Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill:
Yesterday at 2:00PM British Petroleum (BP) began what is known as the Top Kill method to try and put a stop to the leaking oil well in the Gulf of Mexico. As of this morning BP stated that they felt very optimistic that they were making progress. Then later this afternoon the Top Kill method was stopped for a short time. BP stated that they wanted to check to see what affect the method was having and to evaluate the work that has been done so far. As of approximately 7:30PM EDT the Top Kill method has begun again. We can all pray that this will put an end to the plume spewing from the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico. Unfortunately it will not put an end to the hurting that the Gulf Coast residents are feeling and are going to feel in the days, weeks, months, and years to come. Scientist today estimated that the oil spill is significantly larger than first thought and that it has now surpassed the Exxon Valdez spill as being the worst environmental disaster in U.S. History. Late this afternoon it was discovered that there is an enormous plume underneath the surface of the Gulf that is headed towards the Northeast in the direction of Mobile Bay and the Florida Panhandle. This plume is estimated to be approximately 20 miles long by 6 miles wide by ½ mile deep. It’s safe to say that this plume is killing and suffocating everything in its path. On top of all of this NOAA released its forecast for the 2010 Hurricane Season and it does not look good. Sea surface temperatures are running in some places 4 degrees above normal and there is significant oceanic heat content in the Atlantic basin. Hurricane season begins next Tuesday, June 1st and runs until November 30th. The official forecast calls for possibly 23 named storms with 14 of them to be hurricanes. There could be at least 3 to 7 major hurricanes (Category 3 or higher). If a hurricane were to hit the Gulf of Mexico while the leak is trying to be capped or the spill is trying to be cleaned up it would lead to an unprecedented disaster. The storm surge from the storms could leave a toxic, oil stained residue on the Gulf Coast for many miles inland. Bottom line…Pray for the Gulf Coast right now and pray that the NOAA forecast is dead wrong!
Obama Press Conference:
The President finally decided to hold a press conference today after putting off the media for almost a year! I had the opportunity to watch the press conference and needless to say I was not impressed. The bulk of the questions were focused on the Gulf oil spill and why the response has been lackluster. Just like the oil spill response the responses from Obama were very lackluster and insincere. I felt like I was listening to a used car salesman. It felt as I was being fed a line of garbage from the get go. Even the left leaning mainstream media is starting to criticize him including a staunch Obama supporter James Carville. It flat out took Obama almost 15 minutes to answer the first question. By the time the spin machine was finished most people probably would have turned off the TV due to shear boredom or they would have forgotten what the original question was to begin with. One thing is for sure…This President is sure good at getting people distracted. That’s probably how he got elected to begin with. In addition The President basically stated that the response has been happening but there are many meetings that have had to take place to get everyone on the same page. In other words we have to convene a freaking committee to get anything done all while the people on the Gulf Coast are suffering and begging for help. On top of that he kept pushing bi partisan talk saying that Democrats and Republicans need to get together on this issue. You know what, I’m tired of hearing about Democrats and Republicans. Here’s a thought…Why don’t he say that AMERICANS need to get together. We are all Americans and this is a problem affecting all of us. Democrats and Republicans are part of the problem. You’re the President for crying out loud. THIS IS A FEDERAL ISSUE. Just like securing our borders! Take charge and DO YOUR JOB. Expedite this process. It is 2010 for crying out loud and we are going on day 38 of this crisis. Quit having committee meetings and get something done!!! In addition Major Garrett of Fox News asked Obama about the situation regarding Pennsylvania Democratic Senate Candidate Joe Sestak. Garrett flat out asked Obama if Sestak had been offered a position by the White House and what investigation is taking place to ensure the American public that there is transparency in the government and no wrong doing. Basically Mr. Obama stated that there would be a statement coming in a short amount of time. I define that as him saying that the lawyers aren’t finished coming up with a good enough excuse yet. Obama put himself out on a limb by saying that there was nothing inappropriate that took place. Ladies and gentlemen mark that statement down and remember it. Remember that this is an impeachable offense and that statement could come back to haunt him.
Economy in Crisis Part II:
Now that we have gotten that out of the way I shall continue with last nights discussion of the Economy in Crisis. Last night I spoke about the fact that there are two groups of people in the world…”Workers” and “Users”. Tonight I want to focus on the “users” and their current state and where they are heading.
Please note that the “users” are currently happy. Why shouldn’t they be? They work very little, if at all. They get free healthcare, free food, free housing, free everything. The more children they have the more they get. Please tell me where the incentive is to work here? A whole generation has been brought up to learn that the government will take care of their every need and they don’t need to do anything. Now their kids and grandkids are learning the same habits. We live in a nanny state from cradle to grave. Meanwhile the “workers” that are still out contributing are getting smaller and smaller because the ones with these morals, ethics, and values are either getting too old to work or are giving up due to frustration. Please take note that the ONLY way that this country will be saved is if the “workers” don’t give up and pick this country up off the ground. The “workers” are very angry at the “users” right now and as I said last night, who can blame them? The “users” are more than content to keep getting there welfare and food stamps and live high on the hog being supported by someone else. But I’m here to put the “users” on notice. THIS WILL END!!! It has to. The current level of social programs and wasteful spending is unsustainable and when the government can no longer afford to fund your addictive habits of laziness and greed your funding will be cut off. At that time the “user” dog will rise up and bite the master. Now please bear in mind that the master needs to make this cut happen. As I said earlier, it is inevitable. There is no way we can continue as a nation having the government pay for the laziness of this country. When this cut happens there will be much pain and suffering. The “users” will be angry at that time and will surely bite the hand that has been feeding them. Remember the “users” will still be used to their old lifestyle. You can’t teach an old dog new tricks. The “workers” will still be angry that our country has gotten to this position and will take their anger out on the “users” and at the same time they will be still upset with the government. The battle will be waged on three fronts. This will be the “workers” moment to shine. The “workers” will resurrect this country from the depths of despair just as the Greatest Generation did in the late 30’s and 40’s. The government will see that hard work is what made America the greatest nation on the planet. Hopefully this will lead to innovation and production in America once again. This will not be easy because the “users” are going to fight very hard for their entitlement programs. It will get very nasty before it gets better and there will be many battles waged. This must be done in order to save our country. Right now the debt clock is ticking away at an unprecedented rate. It has exceeded 13 trillion dollars. I cannot even begin to fathom how much money that is. But the only way to pay it down is through hard work, some pain and suffering, and cuts to unnecessary programs. The “users” of the world must be shown that there are incentives to working hard. Nothing is given to you. We bring the jobs back to America and we turn the “users” into “workers”. Sacrifice, blood, sweat, and tears will happen…but that is what this country was built on. Nothing came easy for our forefathers. Why should we today feel that it should come easy for us. All of us, “workers” and “users” have had it too easy in America for a very long time. The time has come to work hard and bring this nation back.
Thank you for your time. I will conclude my series tomorrow night on Economy in Crisis. We will discuss cutbacks and sacrifices that everyone, the government, “workers”, and “users” must make in order to put America back on track. Until then…
